Animal Adaptations
This week in science we have been discussing animal adaptations. We have been talking about ways animals survive in their environment by adapting to their surroundings. One way animals do this is through camouflage. The students colored a butterfly to match the surroundings of the classroom and then we looked around the room to see how well we camouflaged our butterflies. It was a lot of fun. Check out the pictures!

Sowing Seeds
As we wrap up our study on plants, I thought I would share with you some pictures of an experiment we did to see which types of seeds would germinate fastest. We "planted" radish seeds, pinto beans, sunflower seeds, and rye grass. We found out that radish seeds germinated the fastest and that plants will begin to grow without soil but won't last for long. We had a lot of fun. Enjoy the pictures!

Chick-it-out 2014
Well we have had another successful year of chick-it-out. Between the two classes and 24 eggs, we had 15 baby chicks hatch. That is amazing! What's even more amazing is that the students were able to watch some of our chicks hatching live on the smartboard! We placed our document camera inside the incubator so they could see the babies hatch in real time. It was very cool. Ask your child about their experience with chick-it-out and enjoy our slideshow below!
