Music Program

Wednesday our third, fourth, and fifth graders performed for parents in an American themed music program. The entire program gave me goose bumps it was so beautiful. Here is a recording of one of the songs, "American Tears."

Arbor Day

Irving third grade was chosen this year by the Bloomington Beautification Committee to receive a Tulip Poplar Tree that was planted on the Irving School property.  Our students performed a reader's theatre and poem for several committee members, Mrs. Lammers, Dr. Reilly, and the Mayor of Bloomington Terry Renner.  It was a beautiful day and the students enjoyed it very much.  Each student was given a sapling to plant somewhere in honor of Arbor Day!  Enjoy the photos and video of our new tree being planted!

"Planting" Seeds

We recently did an experiment to see which type of seed would germinate the fastest. We used pinto beans, sunflower seeds, corn seeds, and radish seeds. We found that the radish seeds were the first to grow although all the seeds germinated! Check out the pictures!

I can eat a whole plant!

This week we have been working on identifying the parts of a plant. We have been learning about why they are useful to the plant and how all parts work together. We learned how different vegetables come from different parts of the plant and had a chance to sample each part! Enjoy the photos!
